Scarlett Point Tower
Possibly the best DX Spot in the World!....If a well known lager company made DX spots...Well...you get the drift. Scarlett Point Tower is run by a small, dedicated group of amateurs, who took a dilapidated Coastguard lookout tower, renovated it, and kitted it out for radio use!
Scarlett Point Tower is possibly the best DX Spot in Europe, its got Seawater, 270 degrees around it, its only 50 yards from the sea, its about a mile out of Castletown, so theres very little interference from computers, and other problematic electrical devices.
Take a look on their website, an amateur worked the US using an 817, 5W and a Miracle Whip (Who says they don't work!!)
When Wrexham ARS visited in 2004 they found it very easy to work good distances from the site, on HF 6 and 2, the field Trip in May was held the same weekend as the Backpackers contest, the team then got a chance to measure the field and the area around the tower, in order to work out the capabilities for the antenna system.
